CHARLES DALY DIAMOND QUALITY LIGHT WEIGHT EJECTOR GUN BY H. A. LINDNER WITH CASE. SN 1290. Cal. 12ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. Double triggers. Automatic safety. 28″ Dovetailed bbls have “Witten Excelsior Steel” in trademarks on top of each bbl. “Charles Daly Diamond Quality” is engraved on nicely matted concave game rib w/ square cross bolt extension. Number “2” is engraved in oval toward breech. Bbl flats have German black powder proofs. Bottoms of bbl are stamped “Excelsior Witten” w/ other German proofs, and Lindner crossed pistols surmounted by HAL logo. Number “1474” is on right bbl. Charles Daly number “1290” is on the flats. Scalloped back box lock action has dual locking lugs, square cross bolt top fastener, side clips, intercepting sear safeties, and pin cocking indicators. Action is nicely engraved w/ fine closed scroll, w/ raised gold inlays of game birds, including a pair of diving snipe on the left side, a trio of ducks on the right, and a trio of auerhann, one male and 2 females on the bottom. Number “2” engraved on top lever. Trigger guard is scroll engraved w/ hunting dog, and Daly SN on grip. Nicely marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 13-3/4″ over brown “Old English” pad w/ quarter inch spacer, featuring vacant gold oval, elongated drop points, checkered side panels, and 22 LPI checkering w/ double line border. Splinter forend has a Deeley release w/ horn tip, and heavy mullered border around release w/ checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.721, right -.720. Bore restrictions: left -.017, right -000. Wall thickness: left -.026, right -.022. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 3oz. Heavy tan canvas Brady CASE has stitched leather corners, w/ maroon cloth interior w/ reproduction Daly label, Brady label, and includes snap caps, and oil bottle. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished. Bbls retain 98% fine quality re-black. Engraving is all sharp. Action retains nearly all well done re-case color. Trigger guard is mostly gray brown. Buttstock retains most of older oil refinish w/ few marks and compressions from use. Checkering has been re-cut. Forend is missing a small sliver of wood on right side near iron. Action is slightly loose and off face. Ejectors are in time. CASE and accessories are very fine. Daly label shows some staining.
