*MERKEL MODEL 140A COMBINATION DBL RIFLE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 375 H&H & 20 ga. SN A375135. Beautiful boxlock dbl with 23-1/2″ rifle bbls with wide, raised, matted rib, pedestal mounted partridge front sight & 2-leaf express sight. It has Greener crossbolt extension, extractor, dbl lumps & dbl triggers. Rib is marked “SAFARI .375 H&H”. Shotgun bbls are 28″ choked IMP-CYL/CYL with tapered concave matted rib, brass bead, Greener crossbolt extension, dbl lumps & ejectors. Rib is marked “147E 20GA”. It has a reinforced boxlock receiver with dbl scalloped with Greener crossbolt & cocked indicators and thumb safety on top tang. Receiver is coin finished & beautifully engraved with lion in woodland scene on left side & elephant in a plains scene on right side. It has nice foliate arabesque patterns on bottom & on trigger guard with light engraving on forend iron. Mounted with a weighted, straight grain, nicely figured walnut stock with two checkered semi-beavertail forearms & pistol grip stock with raised side panels & cheek piece, 14-3/8″ over orig Merkel plastic buttplate. Accompanied by its orig green 1-pc cardboard box & packing material along with two owner’s manuals, two warranty cards & another info pamphlet in German. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-5/16″.
