*HENRY ATKIN SIDELOCK EJECTOR LIGHT GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 1107. (ca 1899) Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 29″ Chopper lump bbls with high narrow concave game rib, are engraved “Henry Atkin.” and “2. Germyn Street. London. S. W. 1.” on tops. Bbl flats show 2005 London nitro proofs for 20 Ga. 2-3/4″ chambers. Bottoms of bbls have SN engraved. Nicely scaled case hardened sidelock action features automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold) and dbl triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved at nearly full coverage of well cut shaded scroll. “HENRY ATKIN – FROM – PURDEY’S” is engraved on bottom of action, and “Henry Atkin” is inlaid in gold on serpentine riband with scroll terminations on each lockplate. Trigger guard is scroll engraved with SN inlaid in gold on long tang. Dark, nicely marbled and slightly figured European stump walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15-1/4″ over checkered wood butt, and features 28 LPI point pattern checkering with mullered borders, and vacant gold oval on toe line. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.613, right -.613. Bore restrictions: left -.020, right -.015. Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.034. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 5 lbs. 11 oz, LOP 15-1/4″. Tan leather, Brady type, toe under case has stitched leather corners, and leather trimmed canvas outer cover. Case is lined in burgundy cloth with paper Atkin label, and contains 2-pc cleaning rod, leather wallet containing brushes, and Henry Atkin marked oil bottle and snap caps. CONDITION: Excellent, as completely re-manufactured by Atkin, Grant, and Lang, using a fine vintage action, and replacing all other components to customers specifications. Bbls retain 95% of their lustrous satin black, slightly silvered at muzzles and sharp edges, with some marks from contact with forend. Action retains 95% correct color hardening, silvered on beads. Lockplates retain nearly all of their color but with right lockplate silvered at tail from carrying. Stocks retain nearly all of their rubbed oil finish, with a few very minor marks. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are excellent. Case leather is excellent with a few minor marks. Interior cloth is excellent, with a bit of soiling from contact with breech end of bbls. Some blocks are loose. Accessories are excellent, as is outer cover. A fine gun given a new lease on life. 20 Ga. actions for these factory re-builds are very scarce. 4-40554 MGM46 (22,500-32,500)
