*V.BERNARDELLI SPECIAL EXTRA SIDELOCK S/S SHOTGUN. SN 461. Cal. 12 ga. 25-3/4″ bbls, matted tapered concave rib w/single brass sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, FULL/FULL choke, articulated dbl trigger and ejectors. Top of right bbl is marked, “ACCIAIO.SPECIALE.EXTRA” and left bbl is marked, “V.BERNARDELLI.GARDONE.V.T.”. The side of left bbl is marked, “MADE IN ITALY”. The elaborately engr sidelock receiver is a combination of ribbon and floral sprays encased in fine scrollwork w/13 gold rose blossoms. Mounted in a colorful, nicely figured French walnut w/ebony inlaid dropper points, checkered pistol grip, sculpted hard rubber grip cap, Bernardelli marked serrated hard rubber butt plate, checkered splinter forend w/engr Purdey-style release and gold initial shield and checkered forend iron. Date code XII is 1956 mfg. Bore diameter: left .720, right .718. Bore restrictions: left .035, right .027. Wall thickness: left .029, right .033. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 6 lbs. 15 oz. LOP 14-1/4″. CONDITION: VG to Fine. Bbls retain 90-95% orig blue w/some shallow storage rash and scattered handling marks. The coin-finished receiver is slightly grayed w/crisp, clear engraving. Stock is sound w/a few nicks and dents and handling marks, a few points of the checkering are slightly bruised w/a hand worn patina finish. Forend is sound w/a few nicks and dings, a sliver of wood missing over left ejector hammer, some slightly flat checkering points w/a hand worn patina finish.
