LOT OF THREE FRAMES CONTAINING PAPER EPHEMERA RELATING TO THE SHARPS RIFLE CO. 1) A 2-page hand written letter on Sharps Rifle Co. letterhead dated February 19th, 1877 wherein someone is discussing the relative merits of Remington rifles, Winchester rifles and Colt’s pistols all having the same cartridge. The writer states that they shot through 16” of solid timber with a Sharps at 300 yards and that they were having great difficulty selling the Remington rifles that they had on hand. The writer implores the recipient to not break with Sharps. CONDITION: The letter is fine with clean clear writing and has straight-pin holes near the top. Fine matting and framing. 2) Framed Sharps Rifle Co. blank stock certificate No. 229 and stating that shares were $100 each. CONDITION: Fine. Slightly yellowed but crisp. 3) Nicely framed and matted display of five items relating to Sharps Rifle Co. a) Promissory note to the National Insurance Co. dated July 6, 1857 for $101 due in 90 days. b) Check for $640.30 dated August 24, 1860. c) Check for $21,000 dated 5 Feb., 1856. d) Check for $200 dated April 16, 1856. e) Check for $2,000 dated September 5, 1855 and signed Robbins Lawrence.
