*HOLLAND AND HOLLAND ROYAL DELUXE SIDELOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER HEAVY GAME GUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS AND CASE. SN 33751. (ca. 1952) Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 26″ and 28″ Chopper lump barrels with flat raised matted rib, are engraved “Holland & Holland. 98. New Bond Street, London.” on tops. Bbl flats show London nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with SNs. Bottom ribs are engraved “Made in England” under forend, and “Modele De Luxe” in front of forend. Bbls are fitted with Holland self-opening mechanism. 28″ Bbls have inlaid gold star at rear of rib. Royal sidelock action features non-automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold), hidden third fastener, Holland hand detachable locks, broad gold line inlaid tumbler end cocking indicators, and Holland non-selective single trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage large flowing shaded scroll as background for flying ducks, a trio of which appear on each lockplate and at bottom of action. Single duck appears on bow of single beaded trigger guard, which has SN in riband at grip. Fences are deep relief engraved with scrolled acanthus. Bolster of trigger plate is engraved “Holland’s Single Trigger”. Top lever is engraved “Modele – de – Luxe”. Sides of action are engraved “Holland & Holland” in long rectangular riband above lockplate. Strikingly fiddle figured and nicely streaked European walnut straight grip “Monte Carlo” buttstock measures 15-3/16″ over brown leather covered pad, and features drop points, 22 LPI point pattern checkering with mullered borders, and gold oval on toe line engraved with initials “F. R. G.” in English script. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. 26″ BBLS: Bore diameter: left -.730, right -.730. Bore restrictions: left -.008, right -.011. Wall thickness: left -.033, right -.032. Drop at heel: 2-7/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 7 lbs. 5 oz, LOP 15-3/16″. Gold Star 28″ BBLS: Bore diameter: left -.729, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.036, right -.036. Wall thickness: left -.029, right -.028. Weight: 7 lbs. 7 oz. Brady style toe under leather case with leather corners has small inset leather panel on lid with gold embossed initials “J. R. G.” Interior is lined with maroon cloth and has silver embossed black leather H & H label with Holland charge card and other label with cleaning instructions. Accessories include 2-pc wooden cleaning rod, pair of Holland marked snap caps, and round oil bottle stamped “Michael J. Kirby” on top. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain nearly all of their original blue, silvering very slightly at muzzles. There are some marks where forend has contact at bbls, and some minor scratches on assisted opening springs. Mid bead has been removed from both sets of bbls, but this slight alteration is nearly invisible. Action retains 50% original case color, pleasingly silvered on beads, fences, and bottom of action. Right lockplate retains 30-40% case color; left retains 60-70%, silvered at front. Trigger guard retains most of its blue, silvering on bead and slightly at grip. Top lever is silvered at top of thumbpiece. Safety lever is silvered on top of checkered button, and thinning toward rear. Stocks retain most of their original rubbed oil finish with a few areas rubbed through, and a few minor nicks and dents. Pad is petrified. Leather shows some cracking and chipping and has been stabilized. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Trigger works. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny. 28″ Bbls have no visible imperfections; 26″ bbls have the smallest of dents, barely worth mentioning, on bottom of left bbl in front of forend. Case exterior has some marks and scuffs, as well as some soiling especially on corners. Straps are getting tired. as is handle. Stitching is about to come away from case. Interior cloth is fine, a few spots rubbed through, and slightly soiled from contact with gun. Label is excellent. Charge card is slightly foxed. Cleaning instruction label is foxed and slightly soiled from contact with oil bottle. Partitions are tight. Accessories are fine. 4-40477 MGM26 (30,000-50,000)
