WONDERFUL WWII KRIEGHOFF DRILLING. Cal. 16X16/9.3X74R. SN 21855. Wonderful war-time production drilling with 23-5/8″ bbl cluster choked FULL/MOD with caterpillar front sight & articulated rear sight on a matted flat rib that has Greener crossbolt extension with dbl lumps & extractors. Front trigger is set for rifle bbl which is actuated with a button on top tang. Receiver has full coverage Germanic engraving with vignettes of a large bugling stag on left side and a small vignette of a stag with two hinds. The right side has the vignette of a large raebuck with two does, all surrounded by beautiful woodland scenes with foliate & floral engraving. Mounted with very nicely figured French walnut with checkered splinter forearm & roach back pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, 14-1/8″ over a thick black composition buttplate. It has sling swivels on bbl & stock. There is a Greener thumb safety on left side of wrist & receiver has a most unusual, hand detachable trigger group. Bottom of bbls are dated “8 41”. This drilling was undoubtedly built for some high ranking official in Nazi government. It has eagle “N” proof on receiver. Shotgun chambers are 65 mm (2-5/8″). Drop at rear of comb: 2-1/4″, drop at front of comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. .32 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain about 95% strong bright orig blue with some thinning over forearm area & at muzzle edges. Receiver is a silvered case color finish with traces of colors in very sheltered areas. Wood is sound & retains most of a fine professionally restored finish. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bores with a ring about mid-point in left bbl. 4-55464 JR84 (1,500-2,500)
