*RARE BERETTA S-3EL O/U SHOTGUN WITH CASE. SN 25608. Cal. 12 ga. 28-1/4″ bbls, hand filed vent rib w/single brass sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, FULL/FULL chokes, dbl triggers and ejectors. Left side of bbl is marked, “BOEHLER*ANTINIT STEEL” left side over chamber is marked, “P. BERETTA-GARDONE V.T./MADE IN ITALY”. The sidelock receiver is beautifully chiseled engr w/flower sprays and flowing arabesque scrollwork set against a shaded background by PASSOLINI. Bottom of receiver is marked, “P. BERETTA/GARDONE V.T.” Undercut for the forend is marked, “BREVETTATO/MADE ITALY”. Mounted with select highly figured walnut, fine checkered straight grip, checkered butt, checkered fluted field-style forend w/engr release latch, engr escutcheons and forend iron. Bore diameter: top .724, bottom .721. Bore restrictions: top .036, bottom .028. Wall thickness: top .034, bottom .037. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Weight: 7 lbs. 4 oz. LOP 14-1/8″. Accompanying gun is a canvas and leather leg of mutton case, its orig proof certificate and a Beretta newspaper ad from Abercrombie & Fitch in 1967. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 98-99% orig blue, w/faint muzzle wear, faint rub marks from forend and a few minor handling marks. Silver receiver is sharp and clean. Stock is sound w/crisp checkering w/a smooth, hand-rubbed restored finish. Forend is sound w/sharp checkering and a fine smooth hand-rubbed finish. Mechanics are crisp w/non-automatic safety, strong ejectors and bright shiny bores. Case is scuffed, has loose stitching and one broken retainer for handle. 4-37209 BDT227 (8,000-12,000)
