C. STIEGELE SMALL BORE DRILLING. Cal. 20×20/6.5 x 40R (or 48R). SN 10749. Beautiful little drilling with 26-3/8″ bbls tapered flat matted rib with silver bead caterpillar front sight & 2-leaf express sight, with Greener crossbolt extension. Rib is marked in gold with maker’s name & address in “MUNCHEN”. Bbls also have a wide & narrow gold wire inlay at chamber end. Receiver & lockplates are beautifully relief engraved with full plate scenes of five Auerhauns on left side with fox, rabbit & two birds on right side. Both settings are in very detailed field scenes. Remainder of lockplates & receiver have full coverage vine foliate & floral relief engraving with large rosettes around hinge pin. Receiver has side clips with a Greener crossbolt & lockplates have cocked indicators with gold lines. Top tang has a cocked indicator for rifle & has “SCHR” in gold & when bbl switch is moved forward it exposed “K” in gold. Top tang also has an integral, inlaid dainty peep sight. Top of receiver is matted & all appended parts are engraved to match. Front trigger is set for rifle bbl. Lockplate has a Greener thumb safety with “S” in gold. It has a horn & metal trigger guard & stock is mounted with a spring loaded toe trap that has cover engraved with three Auerhaun in a woodland scene & has cavities for two shot shells & three rifle shells. Mounted with very nicely figured streaky honey & chocolate French walnut with checkered splinter forearm & unusual straight grip, 13″ over a serrated hard rubber buttplate that is marked with serial number at toe. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Bore restrictions: left – .030, right – .013. Wall thickness: left – .014, right – .014. Bore diameter: left – .605, right – .624. Weight: 6 lbs. 3.84 oz. CONDITION: Bbls retain a fine smooth plum/blue finish with strong blue around muzzle end, thinned over carry point. Receiver & forend iron are silvered case colors with bright colors inside action & on trigger plate. Wood is sound with light handling & use marks with freshened checkering & retains most of an old very professionally restored finish. Mechanics are fine, shotgun bores are bright & shiny, rifle bore is strong & bright, slightly frosted in front of chamber.
