SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1880 TRAPDOOR RIFLE WITH TRIANGULAR RAMROD BAYONET AND SLING. Cal. 45/70. SN 154930. 42-5/8” rnd bbl. Standard Springfield Model 1873 markings on bbl, breechblock, and lockplate. “SWP” cartouche dated 1881 on left side of stock. 15-1/2” triangular ramrod bayonet tapering to round rod with total length of 35-1/2”. Front sight has a cover. Rear sight is standard ski jump type marked “R” on left side. 1-1/8” single hook sling is unmarked. Broken cartridge extractor and takedown tool under the trap door in butt. Only 1,001 of these were made. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina overall with slight traces of blue. Stock has minor dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
