GERMAN CHARACTER BABY WITH CLOCKWORK MECHANISM. Head incised “1294”, made by Simon and Halbig for Franz Schmidt and Co. In the rear of the head there is a piece of metal which a key winds a mechanism and makes the eyes flirt from side to side, however, the key is missing and the mechanism is untested as to whether it works or not. The doll has blue glass eyes open mouth with two upper and pronounced dimple in the chin. He is on his original five piece bent limb composition body and wears the original light brown mohair wig. The clothing is replaced. SIZE: 25-1/2″ (65cm). CONDITION: Quality of Bisque is good, body retains original finish. 1-7876 (500-700)
