36 STAR AMERICAN FLAG. 66″ x 110″. Wool bunting with dbl appliqued cotton stars, stripes are machine sewn, stars are hand sewn. 2″ hoist is made by lapping over edges several times. Two hand-whipped grommets are found at either end of hoist. So flag could be flown in modern times, one grommet has been reinforced and an iron ring has been sewn to hoist. Stars in canton are found in five rows of eight, seven, seven, six, eight. The 36th star commemorates the state of Nevada which was the last state made a state during the Civil War, the star was not officially adopted until July 4, 1865. CONDITION: Colors are excellent. Very minor scattered mothing. Repair to hoist in canton with reinforcing piece of cloth so flag could still be flown. 4-53403 JS17 (1,000-2,000)
