*BEAUTIFUL GEORGE GIBBS DOUBLE RIFLE. Cal. 280 flanged nitro express. SN 20352. Beautiful English dbl with fine, short, 23″ bbls with pedestal front sight having an articulated hood with hidden large ivory bead night sight. It has a quarter rib at rear with 5-leaf express sight, one standing & four folding marked to 100- 900 yards. Rib has maker’s name & address with doll’s head 3rd bite, dbl chopper lumps, ejectors & dbl triggers. Built on a box lock action with heavy sculpted fences & has full coverage extremely fine foliate arabesque pattern engraving. It has a fluke shaped checkered safety with “SAFE” in gold. Mounted in extremely beautiful, very highly figured, exhibition quality marble cake honey & chocolate French walnut with short checkered splinter forearm & pistol grip stock with raised side panels & cheek piece, 14-5/8″ over a smooth butt. It has a steel grip cap with trap engraved to match. This wood may be an old replacement. Accompanied by a full 10-rd box of Kynoch orig ammunition & 5-rds of Bertram brass with a note from Bruce Bertram. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Bbls retain about all of a very fine professionally restored finish. Receiver retains about all of its orig case colors, thin & turning silver on bottom edges & slightly thin at sides, brilliant & strong in sheltered areas on sides, fences & top tang. Trigger guard retains most of a restored finish. Wood is sound & retains about all of a very fine professional finish. Good mechanics, bright shiny bore, slightly frosted in grooves.
