GUTZON BORGLUM (American, 1867-1941) IN THE WOODS. Oil on canvas Housed in a partial gilt wood frame Signed lower right “Gutzon Borglum” Note: Borglum is best known as a sculptor of Mt. Rushmore, SD. He was one of the founders of the AAPS which organized the 1913 Armory show in NYC. His sculpture can be seen across the country including the colossal head of Lincoln in Washington, DC. SIZE: 16″ x 12″. Overall: 18-3/4″ x 14-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Our consignor purchased this painting from Rose Diament, who was Gutzon’s companion for many years. She resided at East 96th Street in New York City from which it was purchased out of. CONDITION: Lined, craquelure. Otherwise very good. 9-90406 (1,000-2,000)
