39 STAR AMERICAN FLAG. 18″ x 30″. Printed cotton flag. Canton sits on “war” stripe. This is a very rare flag. 39 stars was an unofficial flag. In 1875-1876 the Dakotas were first thought to be becoming one state. This flag was probably made about that time. The Dakotas did actually become two states in 1889. Rare configuration, rarely seen. CONDITION: Excellent overall. 4-53392 JS42 (1,000-2,000)
