RARE AMERICAN PINE EGG-SHAPED CANTEEN, DATED “1793” ABOVE THE OWNER’S INCISED INITIALS “AMS”. The elongated oval or egg-form body comprised of shaped slats with solid rounded sides joined together with interlocking staves, the top engraved with date and initials, the upper end with hole missing stopper and remnants of strap fasteners. SIZE: 11-1/4” x 8-3/4” x 5-3/4”. CONDITION: Overall very good condition, retaining old worn surfaces, nice patina, strap and fasteners absent, plug stopper absent. 9-74705 SM (150-300)
