38 STAR AMERICAN FLAG. 6′ x 12′. Wool bunting flag with dbl appliqued hand-sewn cotton stars. 3-1/2″ hoist with ink inscription “J. M. Armstrong / May 3, 1876”. Stripes show mostly hand sewing with some machine sewing. Hoist is machine sewn with four large brass grommets. An early example of a 38 star flag commemorating the state of Colorado. CONDITION: Overall very good with excellent colors. Several small holes scattered, do not effect esthetics. 4-53387 JS32 (1,000-2,000)
