STERLING SILVER TOASTING CUP. A small hallmarked sterling silver toasting cup mounted on the talon of a large bird of prey. In Gothic letters, the cup is inscribed “Sigismund”. The hallmark on the stem has not been identified. Rittmeister Prinz Friedrich Sigismund v. Preussen, son of Kaiser Wilhelm II, was a successful flyer in Jasta 2 of the Imperial Air Service. A photocopy of Prinz Friedrich’s Sanke card is included. PROVENANCE: From an early 1950s World War I Aviation Collection. CONDITION: Fine, for its age, with two minor indentations.
