*DIMINUTIVE AUGUST SCHULER BOLT ACTION STALKING RIFLE. SN 26529. Cal. 22 Vierling/Hornet. 21″ 1/3 Octagon, 2/3 Round ribbed bbl is engraved “August Schuler” and “Suhl – Germany” on either side of rib, which is matted full length. Rear sight has one standing, one folding leaf. Silver bead front is longitudinally dovetailed into raised portion of rib. Left flat of octagon portion is stamped with SN, “Krupp – Laufstahl”, and German nitro proofs “K.M.G.”, “3 gr.” Bottom flat is stamped with B U G crowned Proofs, “5.3 mm”, “35”, and proof date of 6/32. Very small case hardened Model 88 type Mauser action appears to be handmade. Receiver ring is matted, and has BU proofs. Bolt has butter knife handle, and flag type safety. Case hardened bottom metal appears to be hand filed, with hinged floorplate secured by pivoting lever, and houses double set triggers. Small hand filed and polished follower is stamped with SN. Blued trigger guard is of shotgun type. Nicely streaked and fiddle figured European walnut pistol grip stock measures 14-1/4″ over ribbed horn buttplate, and features right hand cheekpiece, horn fluted sunburst grip cap, plain horn forend tip, and approx. 26 LPI point pattern checkering with line border. Drop at heel: 3-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-7/8″. Weight: 5 lbs. 6 oz, LOP 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains nearly all of its original blue with a bit of pinprick pitting on sides toward muzzle. Action and floorplate retain most of their case color, again with some areas of pinprick pitting. Trigger guard retains most of its blue, slightly silvering at grip. Stock retains most of its original finish, with a few minor marks. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny with strong sharp rifling throughout. Set triggers work fine.
