JEAN FERDINAND CHAIGNEAU (French, 1830-1903) GRAZING UNDER THE SUNSET. Outstanding oil on mahogany panel shows a shepherd with a large flock of sheep at the end of a day under a waning sunset. Sky colors of amethyst to gold to pink. The sheep can be seen in a grassy and flower covered field. Signed lower left. Housed in a good gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 13″ x 16-1/4″. CONDITION: Very good, minor inpainting. 9-20134 (8,000-12,000)
