ARMSTRONG DBL BBL HAMMER SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. SN 43178. Fine English made hammer dbl with 30″ nitro proved steel bbls choked MOD/IMPCYL. It has smooth, concave, tapered rib with single bead, Greener cross bolt rib extension & dbl lumps with extractor. Receiver & lockplates are beautifully engraved with about 50% coverage fine foliate arabesque patterns with delicate border patterns on the lockplates & front of receiver. Appended parts are engraved to match. It is mounted with beautiful, nicely figured, French walnut with flat checkered splinter forearm & rnd knob Prince of Wales, semi pistol grip stock with raised teardrop side panels 14-1/4″ over a serrated, black, composition buttplate. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Bore restrictions: left – .018, right – .009. Wall thickness: left – .027, right – .028. Bore diameter: left – .713, right – .727. Weight: 6lbs 8.96oz. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain 88-90% orig blue thinned over much of surface & slightly dull over chamber areas. Receiver retains 15-20% orig case colors, brilliant in very sheltered areas. Lockplates retain 60-70-% orig case colors strong on left side, more faded on right side. Stock has a couple of hairlines on back of right lockplate, otherwise wood is sound & retains most of a fine professionally restored finish. Mechanics are crisp.
