*BROWNING OLYMPIAN GRADE SPORTING RIFLE WITH SCOPE. SN 1X7384. Cal. .270. 22-1/2″ Round bbl is stamped “Browning Arms Company St. Louis MO. & Montreal P. Q.” on left rear. Right rear is stamped “. Caliber . 270 Only”, SN, and “Made in Belgium” with Belgian proofs. Bbl has relief open scroll and acanthus with stippled background engraving adjacent to action. Satin chrome plated FN Model 98 action has safety at right side behind bolt handle. Action has nearly full coverage of open acanthus and scroll engraving on left rail and bridge. Receiver ring shows game scene of prong horn running through desert background on right side, and bugling elk in wooded background on left. Both of these vignettes have engravers signature “R. Risack”. Bright polished bolt has engine turning on extractor. Bottom metal has hinged floorplate with release pivoting at front of bow, with portrait of mule deer with large tree in background, and twigs, grass, vines and ferns in foreground. Engravers signature “M. Macis?” is in foreground. A charging bear is on trigger guard bow. Nicely fiddle figured Claro walnut full flared pistol grip stock measures 13-3/4″ over Silvers type pad, and features large roll over right hand cheekpiece, rosewood grip cap and forend tip with white line spacers. Grip cap has inlaid vacant gold diamond. Grip area and forend of this well crafted rifle have very fine checkering, approx 30 LPI with acanthus carved surround, and stippling out to borders. Stock also features sling eyes and engraved recoil bolt. Leupold 3 X 9 Vari-X II scope with crosshair reticle is in older Redfield rings in Redfield one piece base. Drop at heel: approx 2-3/4″, drop at comb: Approx 2-1/4″. Weight: 8 lbs. 15.7 oz,with scope. LOP 13-3/4″. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbl retains virtually all of its blue. Receiver and floorplates retain all of their coin finish, bolt nearly all of its bright polish, darkening slightly on handle. Stock retains nearly all of its high gloss varnish finish, with some areas of crazing, and a few chips in finish from handling and use. Stock seems to have faded a bit over the years with rosewood turning almost blond. Bore is excellent. Scope anodizing has faded. Optics are clear.
