CIVIL WAR 34/13 STAR AMERICAN FLAG. 39″ x 52″. Flag is entirely hand-sewn. Flag is all cotton. 1/2″ hoist. Obverse canton is a medallion with center star surrounded by two circles of stars and four stars in corners. Reverse canton is a circle of twelve stars surrounding a central star. Stars in canton are dbl appliqued and sewn on edges. This is a very pleasing early Civil War flag with 34 stars commemorating Kansas which became a state in 1861. The 13 stars represent the original 13 colonies. Only a handful of flags of similar star arrangement are known. CONDITION: Over all very good. Staining scattered on white stripes and hoist.
