LOT OF ITEMS INCLUDING AN EARLY COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal 45 Colt. SN 85699. This lot of merchandise was reported the property of Albert J. Goodbrod of Union, Oregon. Mr. Goodbrod was a Civil War veteran, wounded at Fairfax Court House and twice more thereafter. After the war he reenlisted in the 1st US Calvary and saw service in San Francisco and up into Oregon where he was eventually discharged, married and settled. He was the Commander of his GAR post and served 3 terms as City Marshall and 2 terms as councilman. Mr. Goodbrod was born in 1844 in Germany and died at age 70 in Oregon. This consists of a Single Action Colt, a wonderful original 2-loop slim Jim holster, a pair of very early iron handcuffs, iron knuckles, a leather covered sap, a leather cartridge belt, a gold GAR watch fob, and 2 photos of Mr. Goodbrod. The Colt is usual configuration with 7-1/2” bbl and 2-pc hard rubber grips. The holster is russet brown leather and form fitted to this revolver. During the period of use someone added a soft leather strap with a snap. The handcuffs are unmarked and are crusty brown. The knuckles have a light metal patina. The sap is covered with fine brown leather and the handle is wrapped, seaman style, with cord and had a leather wrist strap through a swivel in the butt. The belt is light colored leather with a small iron roller buckle. The GAR medal is shaped like the Medal of Honor with the GAR logo on the front with a blue enamel background. The photos are of the same gentlemen, one of which is identified as A.J. Goodbrod of Union, Oregon. One of the photos depicts him without a shirt, allegedly to display his gunshot wound. In the other photo, he is wearing a 3-pc suit and has the watch fob hanging from a watch chain. CONDITION: The Colt is fine with finish only under the ejector rod housing and around the front sight with the balance being a medium gray patina with a couple small spots of fine surface rust. All matching, including the bbl and cylinder. Appears that the left eagle grip is original and the right grip is a replacement. Strong bright bore with scattered light pitting. Grips are fine. Mechanics are fine. Holster is sound, stiff and dry with minor crackling. Handcuffs are brown and crusty with no key. Sap has an open seam and a broken wrist strap. Belt is dry and flaking, but salvageable. Watch fob is extremely worn but identifiable. Pictures are fine. 4-50295 JR369 (2,500-3,500)
