*GRIFFIN & HOWE MODEL 70 CUSTOM RIFLE. SN 2436. Cal. .300 H & H. 26″ Round lightweight barrel is engraved “No. 2036 Griffin & Howe Inc. New York, N.Y.” on top, with “300 Magnum” on left rear. Magnum Model 70 action has no. “140106” on right side of receiver ring, with Winchester proof on left. Tang has been slightly re-shaped for a more streamlined appearance, and G & H side mount has been installed. Bolt body, right rail, and follower have been engine turned. Bottom of standard Model 70 bolt knob has been checkered. Standard Model 70 bottom metal has had trigger guard nicely re-shaped. Lightly figured and streaked walnut pistol grip stock measures 13-3/4″ over checkered Neidner style buttplate. Stock features typical G & H styling with Monte Carlo comb, steel grip cap, ebonite forend tip, and 20 LPI point pattern checkering with mullered borders. There is a sling eye on toe line, as well as a gold oval engraved with initials “D. S. B”. Leupold M 8 – 6 X scope with duplex reticle and Butler Creek covers is in G & H aluminum rings on double lever slide. Top of slide is marked “Griffin & Howe Inc. New York”. Drop at heel: Approx 1-3/16″, drop at comb: Approx 2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 11 oz, LOP 13-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Description of this rifle as listed for sale. CONDITION: Excellent, as probably factory refinished. Metal retains virtually all of its blue, with some slight silvering on floorplate and trigger guard bow. Stock retains virtually all of its rubbed oil finish, with a few minor nicks and scratches. Checkering is slightly worn with some extra finish in borders. Bore is excellent.
