ALFRED H. VICKERS (British, 1786-1868) “IN THE VALE OF NEATH, SOUTH WALES”. Oil on canvas landscape scene shows three men with boat ferrying supplies across a small river with shepherdess and dog with flock on opposing side. The river winds through a long valley under cloud and blue sky. Signed lower left “A Vickers”. Also signed on reverse and dated “1853” with title. Housed in a period gilt frame with losses. SIZE: 10″ x 16″. PROVENANCE: Estate of Henry A. Rudkin Jr, (family of the founders of Pepperidge Farm). CONDITION: Light craquelure, very good. 9-98932 (1,000-2,000)
