CIRCLE OF WILLIAM SHAYER SR. (British, 1787-1879) COUNTRY VILLAGE SCENE. Unsigned oil on canvas scene shows a group of three donkeys descending down a steep dirt path lined with rocks to a road leading to a small village having a large tree. Two horses are seen on right side with two dogs and figure. Housed in a good gilt gesso frame having a label in German on reverse. SIZE: 18″ x 14″. PROVENANCE: Purchased at Christie’s – So. Kensington, Nov. 11, 1999, lot #121. From a fine North Shore, MA Collection. CONDITION: Relined, inpainting, very good having stable horizontal craquelure. 9-98824 (1,500-2,500)
