COLT MODEL 1855 HALF STOCK SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 36. SN not visible externally, number “1302” appears on the cylinder pin and inside the trigger guard. Fine little sporting rifle with 24” oct to rnd bbl, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight with an unusual 2-leaf ladder rear sight, missing the aperture from the slide. Standard frame markings with serpentine trigger guard. The forearm has a German silver nosecap and wedge escutcheons. The replacement buttstock is highly figured and has a replacement buttplate. CONDITION: Bbl retains a mottled dark brown patina with moderate pitting, heavier on the bottom rail. . Frame is a cleaned, artificially aged patina with light pitting. Wood is fine with most of its custom finish. Mechanics are fine. Bore is strong with moderate to heavy pitting. 4-52230 JR67 (2,500-4,000)
