SINGING BIRD-IN-CAGE AUTOMATON, CONTINENTAL. Early 20th century. The mechanical red and black feathered bird mounted on a brass perch entwined with vinery within a domed brass cage, the circular plinth concealing the music box with key. The base marked “GERMANY” in capital letters. Also marked “KEN.D” inside a square, incised with mark of a bird on branch flanked by the letters “K” “G” signifying Karl Griesbaum. SIZE: 12″ h. x 6-1/2″ dia. CONDITION: Very fine condition overall. Mechanism produces sharp, clear, sweet tones. 9-94316 (500-800)
