PATENT MODEL: FORGING MACHINE. Elbridge Wheeler inventor, patent #18,115; dated Sept. 1, 1857. Earlier patent model with desirable low patent number. Outstanding cast iron machine with leaf decoration along the uprights. A series of gears, cams, rollers and hand levers would facilitate the transformation from heated iron to the finish product of “any desired form” and was “particularly suitable for forging the planks for horseshoes”.
