COLT MODEL 1855 REVOLVING SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 ga. SN 941. Standard shotgun with 30” oct to rnd bbl, silver bead with iron rib on the bottom with 2 iron guides containing what appears to be the original ramrod. It has a small forearm with brass nosecap and German silver wedge escutcheons. Receiver has usual markings with patent date of 1857. The stock is highly figured walnut with straight grip and smooth steel buttplate with long stepped top tang. It has an iron serpentine guard. The wrist has been amateur checkered, apparently over an old repaired break. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains 60-70% strong original blue with light surface pitting. . Receiver retains about 50% original blue with light pitting, heavy on the top strap and around the forcing cone. Cylinder retains traces of blue in the flutes with light to moderate pitting. Stock, as noted, retains most of an old refinish. Mechanics are crisp with good bore having light pitting. 4-52229 JR66 (3,000-5,000)
