P. MULLIN 8 BORE HAMMER DOUBLE SHOTGUN. SN NSN. Cal. 8ga. This high quality, but plainly finished, water fowler has 36″ dovetailed nicely figured stub Damascus bbls w/ smooth concave top rib engraved “P. Mullin New York”. Bottoms of bbls have Birmingham black powder proofs, and are marked “10.” Plainly finished case hardened Jones under lever action has screw heads engraved, and nicely filed fences. Bar action locks are engraved “P. Mullin.” Plain flat chamfered hammers are nicely filed. Slightly streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 13-3/4″ over plain steel butt plate, features 18 LPI checkering w/ mullered borders, and vacant silver shield at top of wrist. Splinter forend has release marked “Deeley & Edge Patent,” horn tip, checkering to match buttstock. Wall thickness: left -.034, right -.029. Drop at heel: approx 2-1/2″, drop at comb: approx 1-3/4″. Weight: 13 lbs 2 oz. Shot gun comes w/ seven mixed brand 8 bore brass shells. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 95% orig brown w/ few areas of bleed-out on bottom rib. Action retains 40-50% faded case color. Locks retain 60-70% fairly strong color. Stocks retain most of their orig oil finish. Checkering shows slight wear. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Bores are bright and shiny w/ some pitting toward breeches. Under lever is slightly loose. Locks are crisp. Screw slots are good.
