MASSIVE P. MULLIN, NEW YORK, FOUR BORE WATER FOWLER. SN NSN. Cal. 4ga. Non-rebounding lock. 48″ Damascus bbl is engraved “P. Mullin, New York” on full length smooth concave rib, and has Birmingham black powder proofs and no. “6” on bottom of bbl. Three and a quarter inch deep, 2-1/8″ wide, Jones under lever action has Birmingham proof on water table. Nicely filed fence on right and bolster on left side. Front action lock is engraved “P. Mullin” and has a flat chamfered serpentine hammer. The only decorative engraving is on the screw heads. Lightly streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 13-1/4″ over steel butt plate. Vacant gold shield inset at top of wrist. Checkering is 16 LPI w/ mullered border. Forend has a Deeley fastener, and steel cap, w/ wood and checkering to match buttstock. Gun comes w/ 48″, 2-pc rosewood and brass cleaning rod. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Very fine, as refinished. Bbl retains 98% professional brown w/ good definition to Damascus. All metal parts show 98% high quality re-case color w/ exception of butt plate which is blue. Screw slots show some use. Buttstock and forend show most of professional refinish w/ some repairs to right side of buttstock, w/ few handling marks toward butt. Checkering is re-cut. Action is tight. Bbl is on face. Bore is good, but shows some light pitting. Cleaning rod is fine. 4-35673 MGM82 (4,000-7,000)
