PATENT MODEL: GRAVEL HEATER. Alfred Dodge, inventor. Patent #152,710; dated January 21, 1874. Apparatus consisting of revolving horizontal cylinder mounted within wooden cabinet with removable locking lid. Case represents heating chamber for evenly mixing, heating and drying granular substances to prepare them for use in asphalt. The inventor suggests that this machine could also be useful in drying grain or roasting coffee. Retains original patent tag and contemporary copies of original patent papers. SIZE: 14″ l x 15-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: Alan Rothschild Patent Model Collection. CONDITION: Near excellent restored condition. 1-9160 (3,500-4,500)
