G. C. COOPER LIGHT WEIGHT HAMMER GAME GUN. SN 558. Cal. 12ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. Top lever. Rebounding locks. 28″ Dovetailed steel bbls are engraved “Godfrey C. Cooper, 131. High Holborn, London.” on the machine matted concave game rib. Bbl flats have Birmingham black powder proofs, and are stamped “Siemen Steel.” Splinter stamped w/ no. “5644”. Dainty round action is scroll engraved and has double under lugs. Small back action locks are marked “G.C. Cooper” and are scroll engraved. Slightly figured and streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2″ over black “Old English” rifle pad and features vacant silver oval, and 20 LPI checkering w/ mullered borders. Snap off splinter forend has a shaped steel tip w/ checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.712. Bore restrictions: left -.042, right -.000. Wall thickness: left -.021, right -.019. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-7/8″. Weight: 5 lbs 11oz. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished. Bbls retain 98% good quality re-black. Action and locks retain virtually all re-color hardening. Top lever and trigger guard retain virtually all their re-black. Stocks show virtually all their restored finish w/ nicks and dents from use. Checkering has been re-cut. Wood is slightly under the metal, especially around the top tang. Forend shows some areas of repair near tip and in front of forend iron. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Right bbl is slightly off face. 4-35755 MGM79 (3,000-5,000)
