JOHN WILLIAM KENNEDY (American, 1903) STORMY NEW YORK SKYLINE. Fabulous oil on canvas birdseye view showing the New York skyline looking across building and river. Gray and white clouds with lightening bolts. Rain is seen on surface of painting. Foreground has brick building with windows, one of which has bright interior light and a woman can be seen at an old manual typewriter. Just beyond the building can be seen several boats including three small tugs. A nice period scene of New York City. Housed in a wide stepped gilt molded wood frame. PROVENANCE: Sotheby’s, New York, Sale 9/24/92. SIZE: 30” x 37”. CONDITION: Strip lined on new stretcher with turn buckle mechanism. Minor inpainting, very good. 9-99578 (5,000-8,000)
