WONDERFUL FOLK ART BLACK CARVED ROOT CANE. This great late 19th or early 20th century carved root cane features the head of an animated smiling black man; his teeth are set with tiny pieces of bone, his eyes appear to be bone or ivory inserts also painted, features are highlighted in paint – both the lips, hair etc. SIZE: 35″ long. CONDITION: Generally good. Paint shows wear on high points and a minor loss on the underside of the chin of some filler material used in the making of the cane. A great piece of folk art. 9-92306 (1,750 – 2,750)
