*RARE CASED BROWNING MIDAS LIGHTNING GRADE SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 12 ga. SN 37081S5. Field style Belgian Browning with 30″ bbls choked FULL/MOD & 26-1/4″ bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL. Both bbls have hand matted ventilated ribs with sgl ivory beads, ejectors & gold plated sgl selective trigger. Receiver is engraved in typical Midas patterns with large vignette of three raised gold pheasants on left side, three raised gold ducks on right side & a raised gold quail on bottom. Side vignettes have typical elliptical gold wire border with very highly detailed background scenery. Left vignette is signed “M. MAGIS”. Receiver has 100% coverage, very well executed leaf & vine arabesque patterns. Trigger guard has an elliptical shaped shield. Top tang has “S”, “U”, & “O” in gold. Opening lever, top tang, trigger guard & forend irons are all engraved to match. Mounted with very highly figured French walnut with checkered rnd field style forearms & long tang rnd knob stock with raised side panels with carved arrowhead, 14-1/4″ over orig Browning black composition buttplate. There is a blank gold initial oval on bottom. Accompanied by a rnd corner brown leatherette covered white fleece lined Browning 2-bbl case. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 7 lbs. 9.92 oz. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Bbls retain 98-99% strong bright orig blue with only light scrapes from forearm on bottom bbls. Receiver retains virtually all of its strong bright orig blue & trigger guard most of its orig blue, thin on tang with some thinning at tip of top tang & on opening lever. Gold quail on bottom has a scratch. Wood is all sound with stock having some crackles in finish with light handling & use marks. Forearms have only a minor nick or two. Crisp mechanics, very bright shiny bores. Case is near new. 4-55522 JR159 (8,000-14,000)
