WING STRUT SEGMENT FROM VON RICHTHOFEN’S FOKKER TRI-PLANE DR I 425/17. Laminated section painted in the familiar red paint of a wing strut from Richthofen’s tri-plane. The airfoil-shaped cross-section exhibits three (3) weight saving grooves. Accompanying this item is a letter from Mrs. V. A. May, widow of Lt. W. R. “Wop” May who retrieved a larger segment at the crash site. This item is pictured on page 234 of Who Killed The Red Baron?
