SECTION OF FABRIC FROM VON RICHTHOFEN’S FOKKER DR I TRI-PLANE. E. F. Rountree of No. 3 Sqdn., AFC, removed this section from the upper surfaces of the tri-plane. Rountree signed his name on the reverse side of the fabric, and also included in ink “Fabric from machine of Baron Von Richtoven (sic) brought down on the Australian’s front on 21/4/18”. Included also is a letter from Rountree’s wife excerpting a war-time letter from Rountree to his parents in which he describes the fabric he was sending home, and one informing of Rountree’s death. CONDITION: Good. Minor paint flaking on one edge. SIZE: 4-3/4” x 1-3/4”. From the Collection of the late P. J. Carisella. 4-53520 CW21 (2,000-3,000)
