PAINTED AND CARVED NORTHEASTERN SPRUCE GUM BOX. Exceptional carvings include a large church with three steeples and crosses, the center of which has two opposing hearts above the roof and a script “M”. The other side with a large two and a half story home having a tree on right side. The box is in book form which at one time had sliding ends which are not present. Wonderful surface in a bittersweet orange paint, 19th Century. SIZE: 6”h x 4-1/4”w x 2”d. CONDITION: Some corner loss, otherwise good. 9-90728 SM (500-750)
