FINE NEO-GREC THREE-PIECE ASH AND OAK BEDROOM SUITE, IN THE MANNER OF HERTER BROTHERS. Circa 1880. Comprised of a pair of high beds and a marble top chest of drawers with mirror, each with a blocked architectural pediment, all with floral incise-carved crest centering the scrolled cartouche with applied painted patera of a classical woman and accentuated with tunbridge style inlay. The beds with three aligned amboyna burled panels, further flanked by stiles conforming to the crest work, the footboards blocked with scrolled molded ears. The chest of drawers surmounted by an architectural mirror, the rectangular mirrorplate beneath an arched frieze within a molded surround, flanked by raised glove boxes fastened to the rectangular molded top with stepped molded front edge, the case with three long graduated drawers with recessed amboyna panels, tunbridge inlays, and applied with shaped molded applied floral-carved panels, raised on casters. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Very good overall condition, the old surfaces scrubbed and cleaned, applied with wax.
