EXCEPTIONAL CLASSICAL ROSEWOOD BOOKCASE SECRETARY, PROBABLY NEW YORK. Circa 1830. The bull-nose molded cornice with concave frieze above the conforming upper case fitted with a pair of Gothic-arched doors, opening to three adjustable shelves above the lower case having a hinged compartment, opening to form a baise-lined writing surface flanked by open compartments and exposing three aligned document drawers, above a pair of figured Gothic panel doors, raised on bracket feet with shaped and scalloped returns. SIZE: 90-1/2″ h. x 42-1/2″ w. x 23″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Very fine professional restoration and finish, with exceptional graining. Retains original backboards and old glass. Some minor veneer losses at cornice and feet. Otherwise very good overall. 9-93531 (4,000-6,000)
