UNSIGNED (European, First half of the 19th Century) THE PAPAL AUDIENCE. Oil on canvas scene shows a young girl standing with arms crossed wearing a red dress and blue robe approaching a man in gold and white robe with jewel studded sectional crown while two others look on. The parents are seen on the left and it is all set against a building background with blue and gray cloud sky. Housed in what appears to be its original gesso decorated period frame. SIZE: 29-3/4″ x 24″. PROVENANCE: From a large Boston, MA area Estate. CONDITION: Relined, craquelure with chipping on bottom third. Fair to good. 9-99317 (800-1,200)
