IMPORTANT RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CARVED WALNUT ARMOIRE, IN THE MANNER OF DANIEL PABST, PHILADELPHIA. Circa 1865. The massive scrolled and winged cartouche crest mounted above the arched, molded cornice with rounded corners, joined to the conforming case fitted with an arched, molded, mirrored center door flanked by carved and burled pilasters, the rounded corners burled, the cabinet sides paneled. The whole raised on a stepped and molded conforming plinth fitted with a central drawer. Armoire retains partial retailer label on interior of door. Daniel Pabst (1827-1910) SIZE: 8’9″ h. x 5’1-1/2″ w. x 27″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: This breakdown armoire retains beautifully figured woods and cleaned original finish. No restorations or defects noted. Hardware and fittings original.
