SECTION OF FABRIC FROM VON RICHTHOFEN’S FOKKER DR I TRI-PLANE, AND FOUR AUTHENTICATING LETTERS. A rectangular piece of fabric from the upper surfaces of the tri-plane. Written on the reverse in black ink, is “Fabric of the Famous German Aviator’s Machine Baron Von Ritchofen (sic) Brought Down 21-4-18. Somme Front. Lt. F. Mart” (in blue ink). The four letters mentioning the fabric were written by Erica A. Mart, Frank Mart’s widow. CONDITION: Good. Slightly spotted. SIZE: 4-5/8” x 1-7/8”. From the Collection of the late P. J.
