SECTION OF FABRIC FROM VON RICHTHOFEN’S FOKKER DR I TRI-PLANE. A substantial section taken from the upper surfaces of the tri-plane, with no evidence of the blue paint associated with fabric from the undersides. Written on the reverse is “Baron Von Richofern (sic). I took this off the Barons plane on the morning 22nd April 1918 Pvt H. W. Convers 4995-20th Bnt Aust”. On the red-painted surface are three signatures, one of which appears to be “Gabriel;” the others are illegible. CONDITION: Red/maroon in color, not faded and slightly frayed on the edges.
