SCARCE CASED ALEXANDER HENRY DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. SN 8134. Beautiful box lock Alex Henry with 28″ steel bbls choked FULL / MOD with concave tapered smooth rib, single bead with 3rd fastener, dbl chopper lumps, ejectors & dbl triggers. The rib has the makers name & address, & the bbls are nitro proved for 1 1/8oz with 2 5/8″ chambers. The receiver has very fine full coverage foliate arabesque pattern engraving which extends over the top tang & all the appended metal parts. The top tang has “SAFE” in gold & a beautiful niter blue safety. Each side of the receiver has the maker’s name in a ribbon. It is mounted with highly figured streaky French walnut with short checkered splinter forearm & straight stock with teardrop side panels 15″ over a 1 1/16″ wood extension. It has a gold initial oval on the bottom engraved “W.F.M.D.”, accompanied by an orig, Alexander Henry, green, felt lined, leather, trunk case with brass corner reinforcements, made for a gun with longer bbls. It has makers label in the lid & is compartmented in the bottom for the stocked receiver, a 2-pc brass and wood cleaning rod with mops, a brush & jag, a square nickeled Alexander Henry oil bottle & a pair of Alex Henry nickeled snap caps. The lid is embossed “R.G.Mc. D.”.Drop at heel: 2-1/2, drop at comb: 1-3/4. Bore restrictions: left -.039 , right -.017 . Wall thickness: left – .31, right – .28. Bore diameter: left -.692 , right -.718 . Weight: 6lbs 8oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 98-99% beautiful restored blue. Receiver retains 50-60% orig case colors strong & bright in sheltered areas, fading to silver elsewhere. Opening lever, floor plate and trigger guard retain most of their beautiful restored blue. Wood is sound with the aforementioned extension & freshened checkering and retains virtually all its fine custom finish. Mechanics are crisp. Brilliant shiny bores. Case is fine & solid with moderate edge wear & a few light nicks and dings with moderate soil. Interior is lightly worn with light soil. 4-56555 JR513 (7,500-12,500)
