RARE & UNUSUAL W.W. GREENER “HUMANE HORSE KILLER”. SN 10773. Cal. About 32 CF. Made of brass & steel with a 4-1/4″ blued steel tube that has an angled brass mushroom shaped end with a hole in center & is marked on outside “GREENER’S HUMANE HORSE KILLER / W.W. GREENER MAKER LONDON & BIRMINGHAM”. Face of the angled end is engraved “MK1*” with an arrow in middle. Screwed in the other end is the removable bbl with chamber & striker with knurled rings & edges. Bbl is removed from main body, reversed & screwed back into place, loaded & the striker attachment screwed to other end of bbl. Then apparently placed against horses forehead & striker struck with hammer firing cartridge & dispatching the horse. The assembled bbl & striker assembly are reversed & screwed into main body with a brass cap that screws over exposed threads making for a compact unit for storage. Bbl & striker unit are British proofed & brass striker cap has broad arrow acceptance mark. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching. Steel parts retain most of their orig factory blue finish & brass a mellow mustard patina. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 9-93722 JR334 (100-300)
