MARTIALLY MARKED REMINGTON MODEL 1858 NEW MODEL ARMY PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44. SN 106553. Usual configuration with 8″ oct bbl, pinched blade front sight, brass trigger guard and 2-piece walnut grips. The left grip has a crisp O.W. Ainsworth cartouche and there are inspector’s initials on the various parts. CONDITION: Extremely fine, probably unfired, the bbl & rammer handle retain virtually all of their fine original blue with the bbl flaked to a dull blue. The frame retains about 10% glossy bright blue having flaked completely to a dark patina. The cylinder and grip frame have traces of bright blue, also having mostly flaked to dull patina with light surface spotting on the back strap. The grips have chipped edges and some battering on the butt, otherwise retain most of their bright original finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore.
